About Me

I am originally from the UK and have since returned to my Caribbean roots in Barbados, where the ocean and natural world are an everyday source of inspiration. I am a storyteller, animal advocate, and creator dedicated to promoting compassion, kindness, and respect for animals through my work.

My journey has always been shaped by a deep love for the natural world and the animals we share it with. I live close to the ocean, which I turn to for reflection and calm, and I find great comfort in simply being surrounded by nature.

I share my home with cats, all of whom are rescues. While they may have been saved in the traditional sense, I often say they rescued me just as much. Their presence has deepened my understanding of empathy, patience, and the quiet ways animals enrich our lives.

My Story

I am a trustee with an animal welfare charity and have been involved in a range of media, educational, and creative projects focused on animal welfare and conservation. These include children’s books supported by cultural grants, as well as radio and television work that gives a voice to animals and the people who care for them.

Alongside my advocacy work, I am the founder of La Cat Connoisseur, a merchandise brand created for those who love cats, and Gail Jewel's Wildlife Totes. I am also the editor and publisher of an animal welfare magazine, which allows me to highlight important issues and positive change both locally and internationally.

Through my storytelling, I aim to gently educate children, encourage curiosity, and remove fear around animals. My hope is that these stories help foster compassion and a deeper respect for all living beings.

Some of my favourite animals include cats and dogs, horses, big cats such as snow leopards and panthers, whales and dolphins, and of course the Barbados Green Monkey, a special part of our natural heritage.

This website brings together my writing, advocacy, creative projects, and merchandise, all rooted in a shared belief: that kindness towards animals helps create a more compassionate world for everyone.
